weekly roundup 8/5

I was suppose to be shopping for our trip next week, but alas, island fare is rather hard to keep around. I went thrifting instead, and uh, distractions. I found my second pair of (brand new!) Converses for biking and some lovely heels that were damaged after I washed them. Kids, please keep water to washing your sneakers. ;_;

I actaully tried to have them repaired, but I was told the damage was permanent. I’m not going to believe that, because the sole repair job I got was so sloppy that the soles detatched right back off.

I have leather dye/paint in the mail and e6000. I’m not going down yet.

They’ll just be an ongoing project that I’ll leave at home to work on when I’m around. This actually might be the last time anyone sees these for weeks.

I never did glitzy accessories before because I felt like they weren’t right for me. I like comfort and modesty and nuetrality in general, and sparkly rocks fell into uber glamourous. I don’t do uber glamorous. I can’t. Biking 2 miles to school isn’t glamorous at all. Don’t ask me how my lace obession works.

But theory states that any trend or style can be morphed into something you like. In this case, a rhinestone necklace shaped like a peter pan collar made me feel like it wouldn’t overwhelm casual or downsize formal outfits, making it a good investment in my lacking accessories bin. Aka, it’s cute. So I got it. Ta dah!

I’m much more careful with what I buy now. I’m strictly culling my closet now that I’ve fully established what I do and don’t like. I’ve already cut off a good half of clothes from my old loot posts from when I started this tumblr (and it’s going to good places). Thanks to the extravagence of lolita clothing, I triple think anything that catches my eye, put it through a good cop bad cop routine, throw in some waterboard torture, and only if something I want passes this do I sign the adoption papers.

It’s a good change for me and my wallet. :>
